Bug Fixes and Improvements since release of version 6.0 (6.0.1339.0)

  1. New version of antimalware engine from Norman is included into the product. Performance and stability of the module are further improved. The module now supports timeouts to correctly handle scanning of problematic/incorrect objects.
  2. Changed licensing policy for Content Filtering modules. They are now free of charge and require NO additional licenses! The only licensed module is antimalware filter. In case when no license for the antimalware module is present the product does not try to start the antimalware engine thus further improving memory footprint and performance of the application.
  3. The product now provides antimalware security and content filtering for the latest version of Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010. Part of the product was redesigned and rewritten to support running of x64 bit platforms.
  4. The interface between web filter running in the context of Microsoft Firewall service and control service of the product is now Local RPC instead of DCOM. This results in smaller memory footprint (less than 3 Mb) and improved performance of the application.
  5. Product install package and Management console are marked as 'requires elevated privileges' on Microsoft Windows 2008 platform.
  6. It is now possible to exclude large files from scanning. This improves product disk usage in worst case scenarios. The maximum default size of the object is set to 100 Mb.
  7. Various improvements in Management Console: file name module view now supports validation of file name regexes; adding new elements with the same ids or patterns as existing ones is not possible now.
  8. Fixed possible install errors on international editions of Microsoft ISA or Forefront TMG Servers (German and Russian).
  9. Perl Module (*.pm) is added to the File Type Filter.

Bug Fixes and Improvements since Release Candidate 1 (6.0.1296.0)

  1. Licensing subsystem is fully rewritten; it is now based on license keys generated while downloading trial or purchasing commercial versions.
  2. The amount of information displayed on the "Blocked" HTML page is extended; it now includes the reason for blocking.
  3. Fixed possible leak of GDI handles in the Management Console.
  4. Various improvements in Management Console related to usability and performance issues.
  5. Performance of File Type content filter is greatly improved, fixed the possible false alarms for textual files.

Known issues and problems

  1. Due to the way Mozilla Firefox downloads online PDFs, it may not be possible to download PDFs if partial download is prohibited.
  2. Traffic interceptor is not always able to get the filename of downloaded object out of HTTP response, thus some filename patterns may not always work in File Name filter.
  3. Check mark indicating currently selected content filtering module view may be set incorrectly when Back/Forward toolbar buttons are used.
